Adventures of Willow & Josie

The girls have been out of mom's room every day since the week after we brought them home. We close the door to downstairs and let them have the run of the house. They absolutely love the kitchen! I brought all their toys out there and sit at one end of the room, slide mousies, balls and crinkled paper to the other end of the room, and repeat the process over and over until it's 3hrs later and I'm more tired then they are! Although, they play as long as I play, so one I go downstairs, the sleep on the cat tree. Willow's usually at the base or in the middle circle. Josie takes the top. They stayed together at first, though.

They're definitely finding their place. They jump from the floor to the chair, onto the table and up on the counter. Josie usually goes at full speed.

She gets into everything. I opened the drawer for glasses wipes and she decided to investigate.

My medication comes in a tiny box from Boston, and it's just the right size!

Josie in a basket. Mike's holding it up...

Josie didn't understand water bowls. She would step over it with her front paws, but the back feet always got wet. I actually watched her step into the water with her whole back foot once. Her tail is always in it, too. Here, I grabbed a towel to dry her tail and then she slept on it.

They'e always together...and they really like boxes. We had about 10 scattered throughout the house last week.

Willow LOVES the sun. And outside. Mom opens the slider during the for them, and she watches everything!

Josie in the top circle. This has become her spot. If she's not playing, she's sleeping here.

We have a spare room for food and giant cat boxes. Mom and Dad got a new bed this week and she put the girls in there while it was being delivered. There's 2 cat trees in there, but of course the girls stayed together.

I got this when I knew I was getting a kitten. It's upstairs for any of the cats and Willow found it first.

Every morning, I make scrambled eggs and share them with the girls. Since they've been out of mom's room, Josie has wanted to help me every morning. She flies up onto the counter, almost into my eggs bowl, so I moved to the counter she couldn't reach at the side of the fridge.

Last Thursday, I turn around and she's on the counter behind me. Nowhere is safe!  I thought she used mom's step stool, since she was sitting there last I'd looked. But no, she can jump from the floor to the counter. There is another counter on the other side of the fridge and she's still trying to figure a way over there. For now though, I try to keep her busy with toys and Willow as't figured out how to jump up there yet, she still needs steps.

Willow! She greeted the other cats when Josie would hiss whenever they came near her. And she's really good with scoping out new environments once she's there, but Josie has to do it first. When they split up during the day, they usually look for one another, or head back to mom's room for safety. They really are a great team. I'm not sure either one would well on their own. Willow doesn't like loud noises or big, human things that lift over her head or get too close.

And she LOVES the sun!

Callie took a few days to come around, watching them from afar but hissing and growling if they got too close. Josie would hiss back, and Willow would walk away. Recently, she's been chasing Willow around the house and being chased back. Persi, too. I watched Josie chase Teddie the other day and she and Callie were playing string.

I gave them catnip last week. Josie took the whole line and I had to gibe more to Willow. They've had it  a few times since, but there was an accident today. I give all the cats this treat and Callie got a little too worked up. Mom was making dinner and Dad was with her in the kitchen. Willow started screaming and Mom watched as Callie  tried to extract her claws from Willow's forehead. She was fine, we picked her up and loved her, no visible injury. Poor thing. She's fine, though.

This is what the kitchen looks like now. Persi plays, or watches from the chair, but Callie has it here. She plays, too.

Josie gets into everything! Everything is for her. She loves food. Mom feeds them wet food for breakfast and dinner, Willow only get about half her dish because Josie eats so fast and takes hers, too. Since I've been feeding them all cat treats together, Mom has started feeding them together. The girls finish their plate and go to every other one available and lick it clean. They get so much people food, my eggs, butter, milk, deli meat, cheese, burger...anything they want.

I made cookies the other day, and I usually let whatever cat has put up with me in the kitchen lick some batter off my finger. It's usually Remy. But the girls have taken over the kitchen and the loud mixer scared them under the table, so they got a tree...then decided to help themselves! It was like making eggs in the morning, Josie was everywhere, and then Willow started. I used very available counter space in the kitchen, fending off these cuties!

I couldn't even prepare the cookie sheet without Josie licking an uncooked cookie or the batter from the bowl. I'm just glad I wasn't making them for anyone else, we can eat kitty cooties. Plus, the oven kills bacteria, I know where they've been, lol.

They rally do have the run of the house. They sleep wherever they want. Mom even started letting them stay out all night. Last night, Josie slept in the kitchen while Willow prefers Mom's bed.

Persi in  basket. I let the girls downstairs today for the first time. I wish I had a picture of them going down the stairs, they were so nervous. But my phone was upstairs and if I ran upstairs I'd scare them away, so what can you do? Persi sat on the cat tree at the bottom of the stairs and watched them the whole time. He's such a good big brother!

I love their fur in the sun! And their eyes are so stunning!

Mom left a towel on the counter. Of course Josie found it.

Josie likes water! Since she's found her way onto the counter, she wants to be in the sink. When Mom cleans it out in the morning, the girls get to play. An example of Willow eating for Josie: she wouldn't go anywhere near the sink until she saw Josie in there. And the window sill above the sink, Josie jumps right up, and Willow follows slowly. They slept in the window together the other day.

Josie playing with Teddie! He's still not sure about Willow, but he'll chase Josie and she'll chase him right back, tearing through the house.

They might spend their nights apart, but they always come back to each other.
