A week ago, Dean was pulled out of Hell. Now, he’s apparently woken up in 2018, and the angel that a mere twenty-four hours beforehand had threatened to chuck him back into the pit is sleepily pouring himself coffee and wearing Dean’s second-favourite Zeppelin shirt. It all seems like a perfect happy ending, but with Hell’s scars still so fresh, Dean can’t imagine how he could have possibly gotten there.
At the same time, the Dean who went to sleep in the bunker, right next to Cas, wakes up on Bobby’s couch in 2008. He’s instantly bombarded with questions by a Lilith-obsessed brother and a man who’s been dead for years, and must decide between keeping his finally-perfect life intact, and the lives he could save by re-writing history.
Regardless of these choices, both Deans are trapped in the wrong decade, and their only way back lies with a Castiel still very much under Heaven’s thumb – one who might find the future Dean describes difficult to believe.

He keeps walking towards Dean, so slowly you might mistake him for a predator seeking his prey. Except there's nothing malicious in his body language - his arms outstretched slightly, like you might approach an unfamiliar animal. He's expecting a fight, Dean realizes. And in truth, the moments that have been this tender in the past, where they're both laid out bare for the other to see, haven’t exactly been absent of bloodshed.
But Dean doesn't feel like fighting. The angel's words deflate him, the anger dissipating with the mist.
"It's not fair," the words choke out softly, almost disappearing. He can hardly meet the blue eyes now a foot away. "That you get to say it."
Cas pauses, a wet hand raising to place on Dean's cooling shoulder. "Do you want me to stop?"

During a hunt, Castiel becomes invisible to the Winchesters thanks to a teenage warlock who thinks he's giving Castiel a gift. Sam is pragmatic about it, but Dean is...unsettled that he can't see him. To help, Cas agrees to keep Dean apprised of his whereabouts by touching him. All the touching and the mysterious puzzle that Dean has to solve in order to break the spell work to break down Dean's defenses about his feelings for Cas. But in order to break the spell completely, Dean and Castiel both need to see and say some things they haven't before.

Castiel’s clearly not about to complain about Dean’s predilection for this particular act, but he can admit he finds it fascinating, another of Dean’s little quirks that he wants to investigate to the fullest even if he never arrives at a complete understanding.
He’s lost track of how many times Dean has pulled him aside in the middle of the day and dragged him somewhere moderately private – maybe the backseat of the car, maybe a rest stop bathroom – like he couldn’t wait another second to get his mouth on Castiel.

Dean's plan to bury himself alive in the ocean inside his spiffy magic coffin wasn't winning him any awards with, well, anyone. Just as well Sam punched some sense into him. But there's another fence that still needs mending. And Castiel isn't about to let it go. Takes place when everyone got back the bunker after fixing Donatello. Pretty much straight up smut.

[This one is SUPER LONG and unfortunately, PERMANENTLY UNFINISHED. Of course, I didn't know that until I'd already fallen in love with the fic and couldn't get it out of my head for days... Incredible early season rewrites to include Hunter!Cas throughout the Winchester's story while also giving him his own. Three months ago, Castiel was a single parent with so much baggage he never thought anybody would take the time to wade their way through it and into his heart again. Now, Dean is unofficially living with him and Claire, and it's so easy he finds himself wondering if maybe it's too easy. Can Dean give him and Claire the kind of family he's always wanted but never really thought he'd get to have, or is it actually too good to be true?

When nothing else can fix a crapy ending, fan theories at least make it make sense.
April 26, 2021
FIVE MONTHS. Five months post-series and I've finally accepted it...with the help of the #SPNFamily, of course.
Defeating Chuck was supposed to grant them the freedom they'd always been fighting for. But when Dean died, all of it just seemed so utterly pointless! To survive the apocalypse multiple times, only to die on a rusty rebar...it's not the ending he deserved. It wasn't the ending either of them deserved.
I blame the show, I blamed the writers, but I never one even considered Chuck was behind this because they left him powerless on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. He no longer had a say in their lives.
But what if he did?
BECKY
This is just an ending.
CHUCK
Yeah. I don’t know how I’m gonna get there, but I know where I’m goin’.
BECKY
But it’s so...dark.
CHUCK
But great, right? I can see it now… “Supernatural: The End”. And the cover is just a gravestone that says “Winchester”. The fans are gonna love it. Well?
BECKY
It’s awful! Horrible. It’s hopeless.
You can’t do this to the fans. What you did to Dean? What you did to Sam?
Chuck wrote the ending when he still had power. I don't think Jack even realized His plan, and might not have been able to do anything about it even if he did know. All he could do was prepare Heaven for Dean's arrival, re-make it with the free will they were robbed of in life.
THIS is the only way I can accept Supernatural's ending. They never had free will. Dean died because Chuck wanted to hurt the fans and Jack did what he could to make it easier on us. And I'm okay with that.

He’s so desperate not to fuck this up that he’s given himself a complex. So they’ve made out on the new couch in the Dean cave while watching old westerns and they trade kisses in the morning and they’ve even slept in the same bed on more than one occasion. In which Dean is too much inside his head about sex with Cas, consults the women in his life about it, and finally gets over himself enough that they finally get naked. They also cook Beef Wellington.

It’s Such a Mystery (The Way You Know Me)
NC-17 | s.13 | first time | by fleeceframe
So the man crouching in front of Castiel is named Dean. He wonders if that’s supposed to mean something to him.
“Cas must’ve got hit with something earlier. He just dropped like a sack of fucking potatoes a minute ago. By the time I was checking on him, he had already woken up again, but now he doesn’t fucking know who we are.”
“I’m right here you know,” Castiel says testily.
Sam’s eyes are wide even as his eyebrows are furrowed, and he looks between Dean and Castiel again.
“What do you remember, Cas?”
“Firstly, that I’m not Cas. I don’t know who Cas is, but it’s not me. I don’t know who either of you are, either."
Or, the one where Castiel is hit with a memory curse that makes him forget the Winchester brothers and is stunned to find out he has a family... also why can't he stop thinking about Dean?

There are so many components to a kiss, so many different styles and techniques that can make one's heart race. Castiel knows nothing and yet everything, and it scares him all the same.
Or, in which Castiel learns things about himself, critiques romance novels, and learns what it is to kiss Dean Winchester.

⭐ A Kiss for Every Season (Literally)
NC-17 | s.15 | first time | established | by sobsticles
The first time Dean and Cas kiss, it's not really even a kiss at all. It is not, however, the last kiss that they share.
Dean doesn't think about it. Not about what it means, not about what it makes them, not about how it affects him. This life—that's not how things work. It's just this, these "in the moment" moments that always slip right out of his fingers because he lets them. He doesn't try to hold onto them, and neither does Cas, and maybe they shouldn't.
Cas kisses him like no one else does, like no one else ever has. Dean absolutely does not think about it unless it's happening to him, and then he doesn't have the ability to think at all. What does it say about him that he occasionally kisses his best friend, who's a man? Dean doesn't know, and he doesn't really want to find out, either.
