14.03 - THE SCAR
Also: Cas is the only angel allowed to mark Dean!
"It's just every time I think about it, ya know, it's like a nightmare." AWW He's opening up about it! "I can't eat, I can't sleep. It's like it's always there, watching me." Huh? Ohhh...the beard.
"Dean, it's just a beard." I know my boys so well! Classic Dean. I've missed him so much.
Dean says he's alright. He doesn't remember anything from the time he said yes, to when Michael bailed. I wanna believe him, but it's Dean. And this face. Words cannot describe my feelings for Dean Winchester. Just having him back is enough. He'll deal with everything in his own time, and Sammy will always be there for him... I'm just glad he's back. Overjoyed, more like.
Dean having the same reaction to all this hunter activity in the bunker as I did... I know he thinks of this place as home, and probably feels violated. Even Sammy knows Dean's gonna have issues with the new living arrangements. And everyone thinking he's Michael.
"Chief?" I knew he'd have something to say about that... But DAMN does he look good all disheveled and half dressed like that!
"Hey, kid." A familiar face. I love that Jack grew on him so quick. Jensen thought it was out of character and only fit because the number of episodes limited the time he could hate him, but I think it worked out just fine. Jack brought Cas back. End of story.
CAS! If Dean doesn't hug Cas, I swear to God...!
THE WAY HE LOOKS AT CAS! Always so starry-eyed...
Jack gets a hug! He could use all the love he can get right now. I think they both might need this...so sweet!
Lemme just mention, he does the pointing thing at Cas after saying he's gonna go clean up...my immediate thoughts: 'Are you asking him to come along, or to stay put?' Looks like Cas is as confused as I am. (fic, anyone?)
Dean's back in his room!
"Dean - how is he, really?"
"Why would Michael just give up his vessel like that?"
"And why was Michael helping monsters?"
I know he's really vulnerable right now - disgusted by Michael's clothes, throwing them to the floor - but watching Dean strip...DAMN!
One more for good measure. This might just be my fave in the entire set...the lighting, the contrast, his beautiful face... He looks so tortured. It's incredibly hot!

I know it's the scar that I'm supposed to be looking at, but those arms! And the freckles! I'M DEAD!
More Dean appreciation because he is so goodman beautiful!
"What could've hurt Michael like that?" Oh? Not Michael's design then. But something that can hurt him. Enough to scar his vessel. This has definite potential. And I can breathe easy, for now. Damn, weight: lifted. Thanks, Cas!
"Cas, I'm gonna need you to get in me head. Do the whole Vulcan mind-meld thing because if I can't remember what happened, I'm gonna need you to drag it outta me, okay?"
THIS! How many times had Cas been in his head before Dean told him to stop? Repeatedly. But that was then; before the Apocalypse, before they became whatever they are now. And Cas does it because Dean asked. It's moments like this, Dean won't voice his feelings, but he shows them in so many other ways. Trusting Cas inside his head is big.
Stuff we already know...but now Dean's up to speed.

Ooh! Something new... So THIS is how Jensen gets to expand on Michael's character: through flashbacks. I thought so, but it's nice to have proof.
And HER! We know her! ...Wayward Girls. Kaia. Or, her dark double, anyway...
They both look like they just finished something else...the heavy breathing was a nice touch.
So THAT'S how Jody comes into it. LOVE HER!
OOHHHH!! She doesn't know Dean's back! This is so much fun! Sammy had to smack him, LMAO.
So Dean's not the only one...if it weren't for Michael he'd be dead - he also wouldn't have been in the situation in the first place. I'm just gonna stop there.
Everybody's gearing up for the hunt and Jack wants to tag along. It'd be cute if it weren't so dangerous. Jack does have a point: he's fought Michael, he brought Kaia into everything and he's been training with Bobby. Still...not sure he's ready for this.
No one thinks he's ready for this. Dean could've been a little nicer about it. "You're barely 100lbs soaking wet," isn't the worst thing he could've said. It was kinda harsh, though, even if he didn't mean for it to come out that way. Jack's in a pretty fragile state of mind right now. He could've gone a little easier on him.
Witchcraft. Long-lasting aging spell. The witch is dead, but her last victim is still suffering the effects.
Correction: a complicated aging spell. And just like that, Cas is outta the game. They always find creative reasons to keep Cas from being with the boys. It gets irritating. Usually it means they have no use for him in the episode, but at least he has a purpose at home not some angel/demon battle to contend with elsewhere. Sam and Dean will be fine without him. He's needed here. I just want to see Dean and Cas interact, but Sam and Dean are just as entertaining, in a completely different way, lol.
"Cas is right, he can handle this. We need to hit the road. Let's go." Although Dean's quick insistence is a bit telling...
"Look, I'm just saying, you said you let Michael in, then bang your back in a blink. But for me, you were gone, for weeks. I didn't know if you were alive... I just need you to talk to me. Slow down, so I can catch up."
I almost thought that he would actually open up. Sam is very persuasive, he would've had me saying whatever he wanted just to make that look on his face go away. But Dean's used to it and apparently immune, at least in his rush for answers. If not now, something will happen later and by the end of the episode Dean will talk about it. He always does.
Sammy's full of serial killer fun facts. Even amidst all the angst, they're still brothers.
Sam wants to wait for daylight. Dean's having none of it.
Oh yeah, Jack? Where you going?
Isn't that sweet? You know they're just gonna come find you. You're family. Why are you not getting this!?
This is kinda cool. Hearing Cas struggling with a spell in the next room and going to help. Kinda behind the scenes development here. I feel like I'm in the bunker. Its a nice perspective.
Apparently Cas can't heal her, so he contacted Rowena for a reversal spell. Jack seeing Cas unable to help this girl with his powers is just what he needs. He wasn't there when Cas was fallen, seeing him only as this powerful angel fighting the good fight. That power won't work in this case and Jack's not going anywhere.
They've been at it all night! They got Dean back at night, it's a 12 hour drive from Duluth to Lebanon. Did Dean even sleep before telling the others about the scar? He must have. It's another 5 hours to Sioux Falls, all driven throughout the night and now hiking into the next morning...I know Dean only needs his 4 hours, but come on! And he wants to split up. I'm glad this is apparently a democracy and he's outvoted.
Vampires. Vampires that register as human at a molecular level and don't react to dead man's blood. Michael's creations. Awesome.
And now they know. Honestly, it's the only reason she kicked Dean's ass, at that moment anyway. He was caught off guard. Next time, he'll be ready.
"Sage, pyrite and sheep's eye? We got that here?"
"Yes. Storage room. Red Cabinet. Bottom drawer. It's marked: 'Gross Stuff.'"
I love their filing system! And that Cas knows it.
"Is he your dad?"
"One of them, yes."
ONE OF THEM! HE COULD'VE JUST SAID "YES." He looks so proud to have two fathers again.
She's a runaway. "I was sick of being treated like a kid."
I love watching him learn, taking insight from the experience of others in similar situations. He really is only 2 years old.
Kaia had bruises on her face. Michael probably beat the crap outta her before she got the better of him. She's not gonna want to see Dean's face.

Michael, mocking Jackie: "Stop hitting grandmother in the face with the water gun, Michael."
J: "She was 92, Michael."
M: "She had jam on her face!"

Sam's more concerned about the strength of these vampires, their invincibility, being Michael's creations. Dean doesn't care.
Reversal spell only sped up the aging process. She's dying faster, after Jack promised they'd help her.
"First love strikes quick." Claire and Kaia!? Wow. We're going there. Alright. Jody is so proud of her, too!
Dean got the drop on her this time. So sexy, btw...
"You're Kaia's double, like bad Cas or new Bobby." New Bobby. Really Dean? I love it!
So Michael did send his monsters after her. They're hunting her, even now.
"We let her die." I thought this was going to break him...If he had his power, he could've saved her. His powers were incredible. Also, no one should be that pretty when they cry. Dean does a good job of it, too.
"We need to break her." Sammy knows what he means, but needs to ask anyway. To make Dean spell it out for him to see how wrong this is.
All he wants his the spear. And he won't let anything stop him. Not from getting the only thing they know of that hurts Michael. Even if it means torture...he's desperate.
Jack's got a plan. He figures that the witch is pulling the girl's life force faster, trying to heal herself from death. The bullet's still inside her, so she's not coming back, but the power is still trying to do its job.
It's the necklace. He isn't even sure that it will work, but what does he have to lose? Now he's thinking like a hunter!
He did it. When everyone else had given up. Without his powers. I'm so proud of him!
...and so is Cas.
"You're no different than him...I saw what you did, when you put your gun in her face"
Okay, yes, that was harsh, but she wasn't cooperating and it was Mary... Not one of his shining moments, but again, he was desperate. And he's a hunter, what do you expect?
Apparently, this Kaia could see her double's life. They were both dream walkers, it connected them. But she's stronger, and much more intuitive. "I know where it comes from, you're anger your impatience: it's fear. You're scared. And you're weak. Michael hurt you. He hurt me, too."
So, he knew the spear could hurt him, wants to make a deal for it but she's not giving it up.
Okay, this fight: totally hot. I know it's Michael, but it's Dean's body. Not the first time I've been confused. But DAMN those angelic moves...

JODY! They don't stand a chance against these things...
I saw where this was going. Dean's got a plan!
Too bad she ain't playing ball. They're death would be the perfect distraction for her to gain some distance on these things...
Jody broke her arm this time! She never seems to leave a fight completely intact...
She came back...!
To take them out.
With the spear that can clearly kill anything... He wants it so bad. Because he's afraid.
So Dean can rest easy, knowing they have something on him... THIS FACE! I don't like this face! Okay, I love the angst, but that spear was all he wanted...
Apparently fic has made me notice the little details...
"Raising three hunterS and fearing every day that I might lose one of them." How did Wayward Sisters not get picked up!? Seriously!
"What you did today, you just made me so proud. You know, learning to hold your own in a fight without your powers takes time and, and training but today you proved that you have the mind of a hunter. And the heart of a hunter. I was thinking, I'll talk to Sam and Dean, but um, maybe we could go on a hunting trip. I mean, if you want to."
Another beautiful father/son moment with Jack and Cas! Cas is doing better than he thinks he is...
Unless Jack dies first...what's with the coughing. His human side acting up? Cas is making him soup!
"You know, I said yes to him because I thought...but it was stupid. I was stupid...and it wasn't a blink; being possessed. I made it sound like that, but it wasn't. I don't remember most of what Michael did with me because I was under water, drowning, and that I remember. I felt every second of it. Clawing, fighting for air. And I thought I could make it out, but I, I...I could't. I wasn't strong enough. And now he's gone, and he's out there putting an army of monsters together and hurting people. And it's all on me, man. I said yes. It's my fault."
Oh, Dean...of course he'd put it all on himself, but it's not his fault. None of it is. Not that he'll ever see it that way....
Blood. Is this from his grace being gone...or the spell he broke?
That's a lot of blood, Jack...
He can't die, he's too important. Everyone was so divided on what to do about him for so long, even before he was born, and after... They can't go through all of that, HE can't go through all of that just to die! NO! Cas wouldn't be able to take it. I won't be able to take it. Jack is family. Just...NO!
