80 DAY OBSESSION - DAY 8

DAY 8
TOTAL BODY CORE

So much for feeling better this week. I even went to bed early and everything!

Neurology appointment in Foxboro at 12:00PM, so I knew I wouldn't be doing 80 Days until early afternoon. After another fitful night's sleep, I woke up to my third alarm feeling more exhausted than when I went to bed. My eyes couldn't focus and I just felt off. No driving today, then.

Mom drove to Dad's work and he jumped on the highway to Foxboro. I had been uncomfortable, nauseous and hungry the whole way over. My body hates me; likes to warn me in advance that I need to use the bathroom, but not just yet. This feeling usually lasts until I find relief.

We were 30 minutes early to the appointment, so I used the restroom provided. After about 20 minutes, I felt a little better, but still dizzy. And when I came out, a line had formed and the next person gave me a look as I walked past.

My blood pressure was up and shoes don't help much with the scale: 195lbs. Although I did get confirmation on the birth control theory. When they say weight gain, they do in fact mean up to 30lbs. Awesome. So my choices are unimaginable pain for 1 week every month, or 30lbs to struggle with losing again. I almost want the pain...

It was good to see my neurologist on a bad day.  I still can't really explain the vertigo. I just feel like I can't focus, sometimes the room seems to spin...I completely forgot to tell her about my hiking revelation: the optical allusion of things moving towards the center of my vision; like a fast close-up shot in a movie. I did mention my reaction to the flu shot this year.

She had been hoping to see more of an improvement, but when she did the eye movement test, even my mom could see my left eye bounce side-to-side. It felt vertical to me, but I knew when it happened. Thats' a classic sign of vertigo. It's nice to have some physical proof that something's wrong and not just have my vague word on what's happening.

So: blood work, EEG, 64oz of water per day, vestibular physical therapy specialist, follow up appointment in two months.

The lab was out for lunch and Dad needed to get back to work. Mom and I got home around 2:00PM, like I'd expected. I ate lunch, peeled potatoes, played with the girls for a while, then took a 3 hour nap.

Still feeling slightly off balance, it just hasn't been a good day.

Hoping to pick up on Day 9 tomorrow...
